After discussion at Council upon a recommendation from the Outreach and Service Board, a meeting will take place on Sunday October 4 (World-Wide Communion Sunday) after worship. The goal of the meeting is to promote discussion among members of the congregation as to how MacNeill can respond to the dire refugee need. In the past we have sponsored a family from Cambodia and two brothers from Central America. We recognize that our congregational personnel and financial resources are diminished from those years, but can we see our way to being intentionally involved as a congregation? The meeting will take place in the parlour at coffee-time. Please bring a bag lunch. Everyone is invited to do their own research before attending this meeting and come with specific ideas. Here are some ideas that have already been expressed…..
Can we join with other churches or agencies to sponsor a family?
Can we sponsor a single adult person?
Can we partner with a McMaster University initiative?
Can we support a special financial appeal?
Can we involve our MacNeill youth in any initiative?
If you are unable to attend but are interested in contributing in some way, please speak to any member of the Outreach and Service Board, or the Moderator, Heather Hobbs.
