Featuring Lee Ann McKenna

Your Deacons are very excited about our Anniversary plans.

On Saturday morning October 26th starting at 9am – until approx 3:30pm “The Gathering” will be meeting at MacNeill. The title of the presentation for the day will be “Honouring our Mentors, Anticipating Tomorrow.” All members of the congregation are invited to attend.

Saturday October 26th @ 7pm

Our keynote speaker, Lee Ann McKenna, is a Baptist minister ordained five years ago to the work of peacemaking through an organization she founded called ‘Partera International’. She conducts trainings in non-violence and conflict transformation in zones of conflicts around the world. She also consults in the public sector on issues of health equity and cultural humility. Stirred by a request to do a workshop on Canada’s First Peoples, Lee Ann decided that she needed to start with her own story and its intersections over the years with the artefacts and narratives of those who preceded her and her family to the North Shore of Lake Erie’s tobacco country. Her Confessions of a Settler on Stolen Land is a deeply personal-and yet, familiar-exploration of the prejudices she inherited and absorbed, through her ‘teachers’ and the beginning of multiple and ongoing turnarounds. Lee Ann’s ‘Confessions’ have been heard in New York and several faith communities in Ontario.

Sunday Morning October 27th  @ 11am

We will celebrate our 89th Anniversary as a community of believers. Rev Lee Ann McKenna will be our guest speaker and the service will be followed by a celebration pot luck luncheon. The Deacons will provide the Anniversary cake and some ice cream (with gluten free options).

We invite you to mark these dates on your calendar and watch for more details.

The events featuring Lee Ann McKenna are open to the community.
